| get the organ out and fill the party cellar with children, the disco is starting and they can already say "Disco Dancing", for some their first word of English. schmoof (whoever they are) make electropop classics with all the fooling around that goes with this, simple, cheap and with quite chirpy singing, which even with the correctly edited 3 minute maximum length can seem bit long. it's all so cute, as if the band were a group of pixies with manga eyes, but somehow it's easy listening too, so that you thoroughly know the tracks even before they've finished. whoever as an Indie Kid liked things like the King of Luxembourg and Bad Dream Fancy Dress would like schmoof as an grown up disco goer. a bit too far? this may be so but somehow this appreciation of pop is even with good will best not done via MTV or Viva (german music channel), and this type of 80's pop didn't appear in such a precice form even at the height of retro fever. love it or hate it. |
